In March 2016 the University was reviewed by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) under its programme of Higher Education Reviews (HER) of all institutions delivering higher education in England.
Preparations for the University's HER included submission to QAA
QAA published its report on the findings of the University's HER in June 2016.
The University published its action plan, Oxford HER Action Plan (PDF) responding to the recommendations of the report. Progress on the action plan will be monitored by Education Committee. An update on the action plan was published in August 2017 Oxford HER Action Plan Update 2017 (PDF)
The HER programme came to an end in 2016 and was replaced by a revised operating model for quality assurance, established by HEFCE. HEFCE itself has now been abolished and its replacement, the Office for Students (OfS) has stated that a system of random sampling should start from August 2019. Details of how this will work are yet to be published.
Degree outcomes statement
The University of Oxford has prepared a degree outcomes statement in response to a commitment made by the UK Standing Committee for Quality Assessment (UKSCQA) on behalf of the UK higher education sector. The statement was approved by Education Committee at its meeting on Friday 29 May 2020. A dedicated degree outcomes statement webpage has been set up.
