International students have been advised of the upcoming increase to the Immigration Health Surcharge and changes to dependants on student visas, effective from 1 January.
Increase to the Immigration Health Surcharge
The health surcharge for international students to access NHS treatment is expected to increase from £470 to £776 per year on 6 February, with the surcharge for the Graduate Route increasing from £624 to £1,035 per year from the same date.
Changes to dependants on student visas
International student family members can now only apply as dependants if the student’s study is funded by a government, their course is a DPhil or Masters by Research or if visas were already in place before 1 January.
Today’s Student News reinforces that international students are highly valued and integral members of Oxford’s diverse community, and that the University is in regular contact with Government agencies to argue strongly for their interests, both as current and future students.
