UK Government proposed changes to international student visas

On 23 May, the UK Government announced changes that could impact international students bringing their dependants to the UK and for students switching into work routes before completing their studies. Changes are expected to be introduced in 2024 after a consultation period, impacting those applying for visas after that date. Students currently studying or intending to commence studies this autumn will not be affected. The University will raise concerns about the impact of these changes as part of the consultation phase. Departments and colleges will be contacted for helpful case study examples and feedback on the impact for recruitment and student support.

Current students have been alerted in today's Student News and offer holders will be informed in an upcoming newsletter over the summer. Offer holders will be advised to note the potential implications of the changes on deferring entry until 2024.
