Revised guidance on Lecture Capture recordings

Guidance related to recording on Replay (lecture capture) has been updated, following consultation with staff unions. It has been agreed that during the COVID-19 pandemic, students should have access to video recordings of lectures, including where these are live streamed, until they have sat the relevant examinations (including re-sits). While it is expected that staff will facilitate such recordings as part of their role in the current circumstances, it is not expected that recordings will be made available for any other purpose. The Replay Presenter Release Licence has been revised and is available from the Downloadable Legal Documents Pack for Participating Departments on the Lecture capture FAQs on the Replay website

The FAQs on the Teaching and Learning section of Academic Support coronavirus pages have been updated with this information and build on the guidance given in the Briefing for Departments for AY 2020-21 (Planning Parameters) and Briefing for Departments (Planning for Flexible and Inclusive Teaching) documents. Work is now taking place to explore the issues of captioning/subtitles for recorded materials, required as a result of incoming national digital accessibility legislation.
