Applications are now open for the Astrophoria Foundation Year. Previously known as Foundation Oxford, the year-long course will support able students from disadvantaged backgrounds to develop their study skills, subject knowledge and academic confidence. Up to 50 fully-funded places will be available for UK state school pupils who have experienced severe personal disadvantage or a disrupted education that has resulted in them being unable to apply directly for an Oxford undergraduate place. The Foundation Year launch coincided with Oxford's latest undergraduate admissions statistics release, which highlighted that the University has made significant progress in recent years in diversifying its undergraduate student body. In 2021, 21 per cent of Oxford's intake came from disadvantaged, under-represented backgrounds.
